A friend sent me this image after my request for pictures that elicit the idea of the Garden of Eden for readers. It brings to mind a bit of that chaotic, dark feel that contradicts the more traditional bucolic image of perfection. I like this more earthly image myself. What do you think? I think it calls to the humanity in us more than any idyllic perfection. Kind of like the bad boy heroes call to us. We connect with flaws more in our characters (even setting as character like the Garden in my story), especially if they’re mixed with redeeming qualities at the same time. I believe we walk around aware of both of these in ourselves (or at least I hope everyone is aware of their redeeming qualities) and so we have a platform to relate to imperfection.
What’s your favorite character fault or flaw or failing? The one that draws you to that character, be they hero or heroine?
