This picture is thanks to a college roommate of mine who kindly responded to my call for gate and portal pictures. It’s time once again to challenge you to submit a few lines or paragraph of creative writing in the comments section reflecting the story behind this image. Where does the gate lead? Who are the characters approaching it and for what purpose? Let your muse free to ponder.
I’ll throw my hand in and start us off.
Dara’s gut kicked up a storm as she drove up to the gate. Every instinct told her to turn around and run. Then keep running some more. For a girl with her fair share of trouble following rules, a week inside the Ten Commandments compound was like a lifetime pass to Hell. But Tony was inside. On top of it, her father’s orders left no choice. Spend the week, assess Tony’s situation, or pick up her walking papers. Immediate, permanent eviction from the family. And as much as Dara adopted the role of rebel among her relatives, there was no other place she fit. The Troupe was her life, in her blood. She’d suck back the unease, shout down the hornets buzzing in her head, and go through the gate.
Okay, your turn.
