Recently I was part of an on-line course focused on mythic elements in fantasy writing. One of our assignments was to watch the movie LadyHawke and answer questions. I remember loving this movie. It came out in the eighties and I took myself to the theater when no one else would see it with me. The movie went on my NetFlix request list, it arrived, and I settled down to watch.
I loved it again. But my husband kept saying this film was made in the days of low budget soundtracks and I had to agree. The music was cheesy. It was immediately clear that if they’d changed no other element but the music, that this movie could have been 100% better. Well, it probably would have been kind of producers to give a few good lines to the hero and heroine. Matthew Broderick’s Mouse character got all the choice ones.
Do you know any movie that would have been drastically improved by changing the soundtrack alone? And can you think of one where it was neither the hero nor the heroine that got any of the good lines?
